Trekking – day 184

Start: Dingboche @ 8.30 (4,410m)

End: Thukla/Dughla @ 10.30 (4,620m)

Distance: 5.8km

Acclimatisation trek: 13.6km (Dughla to Lobuche to Chola Tsho lake)

Tried to organise our breakfast after all the other trekkers who were planning on leaving by 7.30. Turns out that we left Dingboche only minutes after the tour group. Scaling the Nangkartshang for the fourth time was surprisingly easy and we, for the first time, made the recommended trekking time that is stated in the Lonely planet!  Not advised to go further due to too much altitude gain, we found a tea lodge, dumped our bags and headed off for an acclimatisation trek.   Went to the village of Labouche (tomorrow’s stop), had some lunch and then headed back down, via a glacier to see the lake.   Both of us slightly froze on the walk back so we warned up with a hot chocolate back at the lodge. Ate dinner and then sat by the fire fuelled by Yak poo as some trekkers began to come back down to Dughla from Lobuche with AMS symptoms…
