Shepparton – day 272 (K)

Spent the day booking accommodation along the route that Tracey and I had planned out yesterday – Darwin, Litchfield, Kakadu, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Devils Marbles, Alice Springs, Uluru, Kings Canyon and Coober Pedy – whilst chatting to Tracey via FaceBook messenger whilst she was at work. It was the final section that was more complicated than we thought, just in terms of getting to Flinders Range. Whilst I was looking at different options, Kangaroo Island kept popping up – it’s Australia’s third biggest island after Tasmania and Melville Island. It’s known for sea lions on the beach, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, penguins, echidnas and it’s diverse birds. Also famous for its rugged rock formations, underground caves, bush-cloaked national parks, and beaches and bays to swim, snorkel, dive and fish, it seemed like the perfect place for us to visit. A quick Facebook message to Tracey to see how she felt about changing the itinerary. Turns out, she had been thinking the same thing!! Chatted about it more when she got home from work and decided to change our plans, headed straight to Adelaide (and then Kangaroo Island) from Coober Pedy rather than stopping off at Port Augusta. Booked accommodation and our ferry tickets before leaving for Rotary. The first meeting since the changeover, it was simply a fellowship meeting (a chance to eat and chat to other members). Got talking to a lady at our table who is going to organise for me to visit the nearby special needs school (maybe Tracey will get her way and we’ll end up moving here after all!!). Tracey made a speech about her upcoming charity Drag Queen bingo event in aid of Relay for Life and we got publicly thanked by Charles for helping out at the African youth forum last Sunday. Came home and rang Jayne as she made her way to the airport! She’s on her way here!! So excited – can’t believe I haven’t seen her in over three weeks. Tracey and I watched ‘The Duff’ whilst we had a couple more glasses of wine before heading to bed. Tuesday 5th July 2016
